Health and Safety

The Health and Safety committee liaises with other employee groups and the Board’s Representatives to ensure our employer complies with all pertinent Occupational Health and Safety regulations in our worksites. The Joint Health and Safety Committee meets monthly.

We have a Mental Health resource page with information on programs for adults and children. Teaching is one of the most stressful jobs in Ontario, and at least 20% of us will experience mental illness at some point in our lives, disproportionately so for those of us who identify at LGBTQ. Help is available!

Check the ETFO Health & Safety Site for related news & information.

ETFO Action on Violence

At the ETFO 2017 Annual Meeting, ETFO launched the first of a series of three short
videos which are part of multiple resources that are being developed within ETFO’s
Multi-Year Strategy to Address Workplace Violence in schools. This first video, linked below, provides an important introduction to members on the legal requirements for reporting a violent and/or serious student incident.
